Spotlight on "Katie Taylor"!

Name: Katie Taylor, MSN RN NI-BC

Title: Director of Informatics

Where do you work: Catholic Health Services

Brief description of your job: As Director of Informatics, I oversee the clinical systems and applications for our post-acute care organization.

Previous healthcare experience: My nursing experience started in a more non-traditional role. I worked in private practice and plastic and reconstructive surgery. During that time, I spent many years customizing EMR systems, building interfaces, developing workflows and training staff. I was doing informatics without knowing what it was. That eventually lead to an informatics role that evolved into a director's position.

What do you love about informatics and/or what area are you are you interested in learning more about: I love to be being a connector between all the various departments we work with (both clinical and business related) and showing them how technology can help drive better clinical care, efficiencies and cost savings. There isn’t a workflow or process in a healthcare organization that doesn’t utilize technology. There is so much room for opportunity if you just look outside the box.

Non work-related fun fact about yourself: I played soccer my whole life and have now become a soccer mom watching my daughter (8) excel in the sport. I also enjoy working out and spending quality time with family and friends.
