  • BANIA Summer 2020 Virtual Event - Leading Innovation and Creating Cultures of High Performance

Dear BANIAns, we hope you are all well and safe during this unprecedented pandemic!  While we are all adapting and coping with the new normal, Nursing Informaticists are busier than ever-expanding E.H.R capabilities to address COVID and expand the reach of Telemedicine to patients.

This summer, we feature Dr. Dan Weberg, Head of Clinical Innovation at TrustedHealth.  They offer a staffing platform for the healthcare industry.  Dan drives product strategy and works to change the conversation around innovation in the healthcare workforce. He is an expert in nursing, healthcare innovation, and human-centered patient design.  He will talk about creating cultures of high performance.  His clinical experience is in emergency departments and acute in-patient hospital settings, and he helped found the new Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine.

To continue to observe social distancing, we will host this event online. A complete online webinar link and information is posted on our BANIA event page (see the link below).  Registration remains open until Friday, September 11th.

    Dear Members,

On behalf of the officers of the Ohio Chapter of ANIA we would like to THANK all of you for what you are doing every day during these difficult and challenging times. We know you are making a difference at your organization, positively impacting the patients and families you serve. You are being an advocate, utilizing your informatics skills to provide tools for our clinicians.

During this time we recognize that your priority is your work and family and we are putting our upcoming programming on hold. We look forward to getting this in full gear once we get back to some form of “normalcy”. With this said, please take advantage of our discussion boards to share what you are doing to meet the crisis at hand - how are you adapting and utilizing technology to meet the needs of our constituents.

Stay strong and healthy – we will get through this and there is light at the end of the tunnel, just not sure when that is. Please practice social distancing.

  • Clinical Informatics Resources for COVID-19

    Dear all,

Some helpful information on Clinical Informatics Resources for COVID-19: itepcovid.com

“Members of the nursing informatics community, including members of AMIA NI-WG, AAN ITEP, HIMSS NI, and other organizations, with sponsorship from ANIA, have created a web page for information and resources focused on clinical and nursing informatics aspects of the COVID-19 response. You can use this resource by visiting: itepcovid.com We have a lot of material that our content team will be loading over the next few days – tips from hard-hit areas, copies of SOPs, etc... and information on webinars, etc... It is all public – you don't need any kind of membership or log in – the idea is to work across organizations and groups. You can help your colleagues across the world by sending field reports, tips, and other helpful information for posting to covid19@ania.org and a member of the content team will facilitate posting.

Thanks and stay healthy!    Mollie Cummins”

If you are interested, please send me an email with the nomination.  If you are nominating yourself (which is great), please include a bio and a picture (optional) which will be posted on the website/email. I have uploaded the officer duties section from the chapter manual to the library files.

    Elections

    • Nov1 – Nov 15 – call for nominations for president-elect and secretary

    • January 1 – new officers

    Elections Policy

Any chapter member who is a full member (not student or honorary) of ANIA may be a candidate for any office of that chapter. It is strongly recommended for a candidate to be an ANIA member 1 year prior to running for chapter office. Full members of ANIA in that chapter are qualified to vote for chapter officers. Chapters will hold annual elections for chapter offices of President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer (or Secretary/Treasurer) each calendar year. In order to maintain stability, it is recommended that the positions be staggered so that the entire chapter leadership does not change in a single year.

Additionally – as an output from the meeting, there was interest shown in a social media committee, events committee, and educational committee (with CEUs).  If you are interested in helping with any of these, please let me know. Any other suggestions/comments etc. welcome J
