Maria Faison, DNP, RN


Dr. Faison is a veteran of the US Army Nurse Corp with two deployments to Iraq, specializing in Trauma and Critical Care. She received her ADN in 1998 from St. Vincent's School of Nursing in New York, and her BSN from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2007. Originally from NYC, she moved to San Antonio after her first deployment in 2006. After her service in the Army, she began working with the Joint Theater Trauma Registry as a Trauma Nurse Abstractor, then following the receipt of her Master's Degree in Nursing Informatics in 2013 from Walden University, she worked for the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) as the SME for Health Informatics implementing and sustaining secure messaging throughout the military treatment facilities. Maria has also worked for the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Health Information Technology Directorate as a Project Manager in charge of implementing health technology initiatives throughout the Navy. Maria continues to work as a Clinical Informatist throughout the Department of Defense and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the National Honor Society of Nursing. 



Michelle Ockleberry, MSN, RN-BC, CPEN

Michelle was born and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. She has been a Registered Nurse for 13 years graduating with a BSN from Abilene Christian University in 2006. Out of school, she was hired at Methodist Dallas as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. After a few years, Michelle adventured into travel nursing going to facilities in Seattle, North Carolina, and Boston where she enjoyed learning new skills, exploring new cities. Traveling back to DFW in 2009 she embarked on a new journey of Pediatric Emergency Nursing at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. This is when the love of Informatics was introduced and Michelle completed her Master’s Degree with specialization in Nursing Informatics. Michelle joined Baylor Scott & White Health in 2014 and now is the Regional Informatics Director for the Austin/Round Rock Region which covers 6 facilities. She received her Nursing Informatics Specialist certification in 2016. Michelle actively pursues advocating for clinicians through innovation and technology to provide the best patient experience and quality care.

Michelle moved to the Austin area in 2016 when marrying her husband James and stays busy with her 1yr old daughter, Witten Kate. In her spare time, she loves hanging out with family, reading, and listening to true crime podcasts.

Laura Maverick, MSN, RN-BC

Laura Maverick is a twenty-year veteran of nursing informatics. She is currently serving as a Senior Clinical Analyst for St. David's North Austin Medical Center. She received her Bachelor's in Nursing from UTA in 1993 and her MSN in Education from TWU in 2011. She has carried her ANCC Nursing Informatics certification since 2003. A long-time member of both CARING and ANIA, she is excited about serving this local chapter.
