Hello all,
My name is Lisette and I am a new member. I am licensed in California and currently practice at the VA in San Diego. Currently, I am enrolled in the Chamberlain University MSN program in Nursing Informatics and will be starting my track specific classes this week. I am in the search for a mentor and practicum site, which has proved to be a very difficult task.
The requirements for my practicum are: "216 total practicum hours, over three courses – NR-640B: Informatics Nurse Specialist Practicum and the two practicum courses (NR-642; NR-643)."
"An agreement between Chamberlain and the site is required and this process can take several weeks or longer to secure.
Mentors must have the following qualifications:
- Registered Nurse for five years.
- Master's degree in nursing; must have held for a minimum of two years.
- One year experience in their specialty area of nursing practice. (Nursing Informatics)
- Mentor must have direct supervision of personnel in the informatics areas within the organization (i.e., manager, director, executive director, VP, CNIO, Assistant CNIO, CNIQO, innovation VP). In addition, the mentor should have organizational responsibility for assigning large scale organization wide projects."
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
