Addressing Domestic Violence with Families

One in four women and one in seven men have experienced severe physical abuse from a partner. Domestic violence is a common occurrence in the United States yet many professionals report a lack of formal training about how to respond appropriately to domestic violence. This training uses a trauma-responsive approach to explore best practices and resources to support families experiencing violence.

Learning Objectives:

•   Describe the dynamics of domestic violence, including how to identify signs of domestic violence and related trauma responses

•   Discuss how exposure to domestic violence can impact children

•   Explore strategies for responding appropriately to families impacted by domestic violence
