RN since 1991, Informatics since 2012, the majority of my career was bedside in 600+bed hospital as a general Float Nurse. My experience working in units ranging from Gen Med/Surg, Nephrology, Cardiac, ED, Peds, Peds Onc, PeriOp provided particular insight and drive to participate in patient throughput workgroups - a taste of informatics before I even knew what it was and I was hooked!
Moved to informatics as the hospital transitioned then moved into Maintenance & Optimization. For a few years, supported Care Connect go-lives then moved to another org where I supported both the host org and the Care Connect go-lives. Currently providing Informatics services at Snoqualmie Valley Hospital [CAH] via ScaledHealth. Providing remote support from Spokane WA with the occasional visit to the beautiful Cascades near Seattle has been a great middle ground for all the things I love about Informatics..
I am fascinated by what people don't say when describing a challenge, the gaps are where the real source of problems often lie. Collecting & connecting the threads of multiple workflows that need to be seen as a whole to find the solution are like weaving a tapestry. Like any other crafter or cosplayer or general nerd, I love to hear & share experiences, and that includes with fellow Informaticists!
