Bio

Lynnetta Akins-Crichlow has been a dedicated employee at Boston Children’s Hospital since 1995, starting her career as a neuroscience nurse in 1998. Her interest in nursing informatics developed during the hospital’s transition from paper to electronic documentation, where she served as a subject matter expert in neuroscience. In 2013, she transitioned from bedside care to the role of Clinical Informatics Specialist and is currently the Director of Clinical Education & Nursing Informatics in the Clinical Education, Informatics, Quality and Practice Department.

In her current leadership position, Lynnetta is focused on advancing healthcare through technology, innovation, education, and quality improvement. Her strategic priorities include driving measurable outcomes, streamlining workflows, enhancing user experience, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maximizing the return on technology investments. With her extensive clinical experience, Lynnetta effectively bridges the gap between frontline care and digital transformation. She has successfully led the implementation and optimization of two electronic health record (EHR) platforms and two Clinical Communication systems, while also developing robust education and informatics governance frameworks aligned with organizational goals. Lynnetta is deeply committed to empowering nurses through informatics and promoting health equity through data-driven approaches.

Lynnetta currently serves as the Founding President-Elect of the New England Chapter of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA).

Outside of work, Lynnetta enjoys spending time with her family, supporting her grandchildren, and traveling. She is an active member of ANIA as well as local informatics and professional nursing organizations.
