Chapter Mission

To nurture nursing informatics through education, research, and practice in all roles and settings in and around Maryland, Virginia, and surrounding areas.

About the ANIA Maryland/Virginia Chapter

The ANIA Maryland/Virginia Chapter is dedicated to advancing the field of Nursing Informatics by connecting healthcare professionals who are passionate about improving patient care, clinical workflows, and healthcare outcomes through the effective use of technology and data.

Our chapter provides a collaborative environment for nurses, informaticists, clinical leaders, educators, analysts, and healthcare technology professionals to share knowledge, develop professionally, and stay informed on emerging trends shaping healthcare delivery.

Through educational events, webinars, networking opportunities, and professional engagement, we focus on the growing impact of Nursing Informatics across healthcare settings. Topics include clinical systems optimization, artificial intelligence in healthcare, interoperability, nursing documentation, analytics, digital transformation, governance, workflow design, and the evolving role of informatics nurses as strategic leaders within healthcare organizations.

We support both experienced informatics professionals and nurses exploring the specialty for the first time. As healthcare technology continues to evolve, the role of Nursing Informatics becomes increasingly essential in ensuring technology remains aligned with clinical practice, patient safety, operational efficiency, and evidence-based care.

As part of the national American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), our chapter is committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, leadership, and continuous learning throughout Maryland, Virginia, and surrounding areas.

Nursing Informatics is no longer a future specialty. It is the operating system behind modern healthcare.
