On behalf of Dr. Mari Tietze:

You are cordially invited to this inaugural Houston J. and Florence A. Doswell College of Nursing Health Informatics Conference.

Attendees will learn how to engage consumers and patients in health care practices by using a community collective action approach with informatics technologies. Some of the topics and presenters are:

    • Keynote address on Community Collective Action and the Global Role of Informatics Competencies by Dr. Diane Skiba from the Univ. of Colorado
    • Beyond Bricks and Mortar: Care Anywhere by George Brown of CareCycle Management, remote management
    • Let’s Make a Deal . . . Engaging “Everyone” by Dr. Julie Hall-Barrow and Cheryl McCarver of Children's Health
    • Value Equation for Information Exchanges:Outcomes and Analytics by Kristin Jenkins, JD of DFWHC Foundation
    • Texas, Trump and Treatment: Affordable Care Act’s Future and Community Action by Steve Love of DFWHC and Ruby Blum, Policy Advisor for Judge Clay Lewis Jenkins
    • 1 + 1 = 3: What Happens when Communities Take Charge by Dr. Baker Harrell of It's Time Texas and Sonia White of Community Council of Greater Dallas
    • Clinical Decision Support: Doing What's Right.
    • Educating the Health IT Workforce to “Engage” by Dr. Mari Tietze and Dr. Stephanie Woods of TWU Dallas

Using a conversational style for presentations, attendees will be encouraged to ask questions, comment and dialogue. Texas Woman's University leadership, in convening this event, aspires for it to be the beginning of more community collective action initiatives that include informatics, engagement outcome measures, and population health improvement.

Tours of the clinical simulation lab and the telehealth clinic will be available for interested attendees. A moderate lunch at noon and light snacks during breaks will be provided.
