Bio

Clinically, my experience is in Women's and Children' health, specifically Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby as a staff nurse. I entered the management realm in WCS, adding Special Care Nursery and Pediatrics to my clinical areas. I was always intrigued by computer systems and thus was the "super user" for any new system that came along. When I realized there were full-time positions available for nurses in the Information Services department, I was hooked! I could ask myself my favorite question (Why?) all day, every day to the benefit of others.

Time has progressed and my quest for understanding "Why" remains a driving force. As an experienced nurse (34+ years) and nurse informatician (17+ years), I see tremendous value in using data analytics to improve outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, improve nurses' work environments and improve the user experience for patients, families and nursing staff.  Thanks to the basics of DIKW, we are empowered to transform the care we deliver.
