Hi. Our organization has been pushing a lot of safety measures around medication administration since the Vanderbilt nurse criminal case including wanting BCMA as much as possible. They are asking about what the community standard for OR, Endoscopy, Radiology, Cath Lab, etc. is given that Epic Foundation functionality is One Step Medication which doesn't currently support Bar Code Administration.
Particularly interested in hearing what Portland area, Washington and Oregon hospitals are doing but would welcome any other feedback around this topic.
Are you continuing with the One Step Medication process?
If there is movement toward having BCMA in procedural areas, to what extent is your organization moving toward this? For instance, just for sedation medications or more widespread?
How did your organization get buy in from providers to place intraprocedure medication orders so that the MAR and bar code scanning could be done?
