Hello everyone,
I recently became a member of ANIA, and I am in your neck of the woods, Vermont. I am truly excited to be part of this community as I begin my career journey into nursing informatics. I am reaching out for guidance and suggestions as I work to secure a practicum site for my MSN in Nursing Informatics program at Capella University. The anticipated start date will be at the end of August, and most hours can be completed remotely. I currently work for home health, and unfortunately, there's no one at my workplace with informatics expertise or who meets the needed qualifications to be a preceptor.
I have been an RN for 17 years, and most of my career has been in labor and delivery. I am currently a clinical nurse manager in maternal and child health. This past year, I have implemented a quality improvement initiative for remote blood pressure telemonitoring. My focus has been on collaborating with the local community hospital OB/midwifery practice to streamline postpartum hypertension care as patients transition from the hospital to home.
I am particularly interested in:
- Workflow redesign and quality improvement initiatives.
- EHR optimization or technology-based workflow solutions.
While these are my primary interests, I am open to any experience that may come my way! If you know anyone who might be open to hosting an MSN Informatics student, or if you have suggestions on whom I should reach out to, I'd be incredibly grateful for your connections or advice. If anyone can assist, please reach out via email or phone.
Thank you all for your support, and I hope to meet you all in person sometime in the near future.
Warm regards,
