Deborah Beer, DNP, RN-BC, CNE
Deborah Beer is the Director, Clinical & Operational Informatics, at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital.  She has been in this role since 2014.
Deborah has her DNP in Health Systems Executive Leadership and MSN in Nursing Education from the University of Pittsburgh and BSN from Carlow University.  Her nursing career spans over 34 years.
Deborah currently has her certification as an Informatics Nurse from the ANCC.  She was also a certified Nurse Educator from the NLN, certified Psychiatric Nurse from the ANCC and was trained in the QSEN (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses) principles by the AACN.
Her informatics experience includes facilitating numerous projects but most notably implementing barcode medication administration at WPH, implementing the behavioral health electronic health record at WPH, and serving as an Informatics liaison for the Behavioral Health Service Line.
Deborah’s work in education spans over 12 years serving in roles including Nursing Faculty for the UPMC Schools of Nursing and Clinical Education Specialist where she developed and implemented the first Psychiatric Nurse Residency program at WPH.
Deborah recently developed a BH Education Stream Channel to meet the challenge of training BH staff during the pandemic.
Presentations include a presentation on the Psychiatric Nurse Residency program at the American Psychiatric Nurses Association with 2nd place award in the Nursing Administration category, SINI podium presentation on the development of the BH Education stream channel to meet the challenge of just in time training during the pandemic, and several SWPONL poster presentations.
