About the Chapter
The GA ANIA Chapter covers all geographic regions within the state of Georgia. Tracee Coleman, MS, NI-BC, CPHIMS, founded the State of Georgia chapter of the American Nurses Informatics Association with a vision that emerged early in her career as a nurse informaticist. Recognizing the importance of a community of like-minded nurses in the same specialty, she aimed to foster networking across the state of Georgia. Drawing inspiration from established chapters, including the Florida chapter, she interviewed them for best practices and consulted with the regional director to understand the process of starting the chapter. Tracee actively recruited the initial board members to serve the community, then meticulously organized the filing and incorporation of the chapter with the state of Georgia, ensuring compliance with all mandates. In her pursuit of learning and exploring new opportunities for leadership and professional growth, she facilitated camaraderie among members, sharing experiences and recommendations to enhance day-to-day work. Recognizing the need for stability and continuity, Tracee sought a seasoned nurse in the informatics specialty to pass the reins to. Initially tasked with administrative responsibilities to formalize the body, such as launching the chapter’s webpage, Tracee’s dedication and strategic efforts laid the foundation for the thriving ANIA GA Chapter!
