Dr. Maurice Abney is LifePoint’s Vice President/Clinical Informatics Officer, responsible for overseeing the clinical informatics practice. In this role, he provides strategic oversight for the development of LifePoint's comprehensive clinical informatics program and guides the organization's approach to clinical technology. Maurice has worked in previous leadership roles within Lifepoint and at other organizations. Additionally, he is currently an adjunct professor, responsible for training graduate and doctorate level students and is a very proud US Navy veteran.
Maurice holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Chatham University, Post Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from University of Texas, Master of Science in Nursing from Liberty University, and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State. He holds the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute and is dual ANCC board-certified as a Psychiatric/Mental Nurse Practitioner and Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Dr. Abney is an author of the children’s book, The Skin You Are In, avid reader and international traveler. He also a very proud father of an adult daughter, Eykayla. He is also active member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
