We want to celebrate and recognize two of our TN ANIA members, Amber Massey and Molley Boland for their outstanding achievement! The title of the article is "Defining Ambulatory Patient Intake Requirements: Improving Compliance with Key Intake Elements."

  • LinkedIn Page

We’ve Moved to a LinkedIn Page!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new LinkedIn Page!

    Why the Change?

Originally, we started as a LinkedIn Group where individual members could post updates and share content. While this allowed for personal contributions, it limited our reach and visibility, there was no central space for followers to engage consistently.

    What’s Different Now?

    By transitioning to a Page:

    • We create a unified presence that’s easier to follow.
    • Posts maintain poster anonymity while allowing multiple admins to manage content.
    • Engagement is streamlined with regular updates, shared educational opportunities, and broader visibility.

    What’s Next?

The LinkedIn Group will be sunset in the near future. We encourage everyone to follow our new Page to stay connected and informed.

  • A Fresh Start for the Colorado Chapter – Let’s Reignite Our Community!

    Dear Colorado Nursing Informatics Community,

We want to begin with a heartfelt apology for the chapter’s lack of engagement over the past few years. We recognize that its silence may have left many of you feeling disconnected or unsupported, and for that, we are truly sorry.

But today, we’re reaching out with renewed energy and a clear purpose: to breathe new life into the Colorado Chapter of the American Nursing Informatics Association. We believe in the power of this community and the incredible potential we have when we come together to share knowledge, support one another, and grow as professionals.

We’re excited to announce that a new chapter board is now in place, committed to rebuilding and reimagining what this chapter can be. Please join us in welcoming:

    • President: Cassandra VanZalinge MS NI-BC
    • Vice President: Anna Otgonbayar MSN RN NI-BC
    • Secretary: Sarah Ponsonnet MSN -HI, RN

This new leadership team is dedicated to creating a chapter that is inclusive, responsive, and valuable to all members—no matter your role, experience level, or location.

We’re calling on each of you—whether you’re a long-time member, new to the field, or somewhere in between—to join us in this revitalization effort. Your voice, your experience, and your ideas are essential to shaping a chapter that truly reflects and supports our informatics community.

As we move forward, we want to hear from you:

    • What would make chapter events more valuable and engaging for you?
    • What topics or formats would you like to see at our meetings?
    • How can we better support your informatics journey, regardless of your role or location?

This is your chapter, and we want it to be a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered.

Please keep an eye on this message board and our social media channels for updates, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved. And don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly—I’m here to listen, collaborate, and help make this chapter something we can all be proud of.

Let’s make this a turning point. Together, we can build something truly meaningful.

    Warm regards,
Luke Jobman MS BSN NI-BC CNOR
    Perioperative Informatics Solutions Manager
Colorado Chapter – American Nursing Informatics Association

  • Current TN Chapter of ANIA BOD

    Dear colleagues,

Please join me in congratulating the new members of the BOD and introducing the entire BOD. We would like to thank them for their willingness to serve our organization.

The new board members started their 2-year term on January 1st, 2025. They will work closely with the current BODs to ensure a smooth transition.

President-Elect: Gwen Holder, MSN, RN, NI-BC

I have been an ANIA member since 2005. I am committed to this chapter as I was a founding member of the chapter in 2015, served as president from 2015-2018 then served on the Board of directors till 2020. In 2018, the chapter sponsored an all-day conference that was attended by approximately 100 attendees and received wonderful reviews and left the chapter in a financially stable position.

My career is winding down and I plan to retire in the next few years and would like to give back to a field that I have so rewarding.  Nursing Informatics is a growing specialty and with the boom in Artificial Intelligence and threat of Cyber-attack, we as a group need to network, to share our knowledge and expertise to prepare for the future.  A strong state chapter, one, that touches all regions of Tennessee is needed.   I would like to help build that.  I’d hope to inspire others to get involved in ANIA chapter board positions. I love to mentor and develop others, so the chapter has future leaders.

I have been working in nursing informatics since 1994 and serving as director of Nursing Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2015.  I’m adjunct faculty at Vanderbilt School of Nursing and have served as preceptor to countless graduate Nursing Informatics students. Since 2012, I have been co-teaching the Nursing Informatics Bootcamp with Susan Newbold and this allows me to interact with those interested in learning about informatics and sitting for the ANCC certification.  I became certified in 2010.  Other professional endeavors include serving as a reviewer for Applied Clinical Informatics, an official journal of the International Medical Informatics Association and the American Medical Informatics Association, as well as presenting Regionally and Nationally on Informatics related topics.  One of the proudest moments of my career was receiving the 2018 Adrienne Ames Transformational Leadership Award for my work on leading nursing as we transitioned to a single vendor system.

In this role, my team supports patients for 30 days after they leave Vanderbilt University Hospital. We deliver interdisciplinary care in an innovative way leveraging a telephony system, an SMS communication platform with bidirectional texting, and our Epic EMR. In my role, I am responsible for the strategic operational direction of our department as well as developing our technology growth and optimization plans. I am ANCC certified in Nursing Informatics and as a Nurse Executive, Advanced, and I am certified by Epic as a Clinical Informaticist. • Applying for Distinguished Chapter Status

In recognition of the valuable role of chapters in providing services, resources, and education to members at the local level, ANIA has created the "Distinguished Chapter Designation." Chapters may apply for this designation by submitting an application to their Regional Director documenting the chapter's activities in areas such as educational offerings, member engagement and participation, and volunteer/service opportunities. Distinguished Chapters will be recognized at the ANIA Annual Conference and in the Journal of Informatics Nursing, and will receive an award logo to display on their chapter website.

We have some members that are vey active in the informatics community and so we are going to be submitting for this.   BUT YIKES- just found out the deadline in 1/15- not 1/31 as posted on the web site.

So, if you have presented at ANIA or non event events, posters, podiums or had an article published please send me your information and help us get this status.    gwen.holder2019@gmail.com

Here is the link on the ania website to see the criteria and read about the Distinguished Chapter Status.
