Mary F. Shook, MSN, RN-BC is the manager of the Clinical and Research Informatics department at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In her role as Clinical Informatics manager, Mary is responsible for the operational leadership of the James Cancer Program Clinical Informatics department. This includes support of clinical and business operations by allocating informatics resources and coordinating the work of the Clinical Informatics staff, including the roles of Nursing Informatics Consultants, Nursing Informatics Specialists, and System Analysts. Mary has been the manager for the Clinical and Research Informatics department for 3 years and prior was a Clinical Informatics Specialist at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute for 3 years.
Mary earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing Education degrees from Capital University located in Bexley, Ohio. She has over 15 years of nursing experience and more than 12 years of experience in Informatics. Since January 2015, Mary has also been an Adjunct Professor at Capital University in the School of Nursing where she has taught Nursing Informatics at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Mary is a member of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), America Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), Ohio Nursing Informatics Organization (ONIO), and has earned her Epic Clinical Informaticist certification and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Informatics certification.
