Applied Data Science for Nurse Leaders

Wednesday, July 14, 2021 11:00am - 12:00pm (CST)

This session will serve as a guide to help health care leaders understand and implement data driven change within their organizations that improve patient outcomes, and to better collaborate on healthcare data science across settings and even across countries. The first step is education of leaders, but ultimately the goal is to build a community of health care workers that are comfortable participating in data science projects that use data driven investigation and analytics to improve population health and tailor interventions to individual patients in the continuum of care worldwide.

Dr. Lisiane Pruinelli PhD, MS, RN, FAMIA is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing. She earned a PhD degree from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and a Master’s of Sciences and a Bachelor’s of Nursing Sciences degrees from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She teaches health informatics and data science for undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, she is an Affiliate Faculty at the Institute for Health Informatics, where she collaborates in research and advising.

  2. Identity the life-cycle steps to complete a data science project
  3. Identify different types of techniques to incorporate into data science projects
  4. Identify different expertise to collaborate with in a data science project
