On June 12, 2020, the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA) Midwest Chapter will be hosting a symposium at Indiana University (IU) Health Fairbanks Hall in Indianapolis, Indiana. The main topic/theme of the symposium will be “Finding the Gems in Big Data”.
The goal of this conference is to allow everyone to take a day to come together and explore ways that nursing informatics professionals can use data to further the profession. If you have practical information and experiences that you can share to help support your colleagues in gaining knowledge and wisdom to help shape the nursing informatics profession, we want you to join us and share that information at the symposium. Submissions must be received by January 31, 2020.
Within this theme we would like to focus on the following:
- Data Management in Nursing Informatics
- Technology tools for locating, accessing, sharing, and using data
- Overcoming challenges in creating value from exponential data from electronic health records
- Data science methods and techniques for managing large data sets
- Privacy and security
- Standardized terminology frameworks
- Data Analysis to Demonstrate Nursing Value
- Strategies for implementing data analysis skills for nursing informatics to improve patient care (potential areas may include population health, patient safety, reducing costs, improving social determinants of health, transitioning to care coordination models for new payment models, improving patient experience)
- Recent advances in analytics such as data science concepts or artificial intelligence
- Using data analysis to drive decision making and prioritization for documentation improvement to reduce burden
