  • 1.  Seeking Preceptor

    Posted 4 days ago
    Hello ANIA Community!

I am currently a student in the MSN Nursing Informatics program at Western Governors University. I am looking for someone to work with as my preceptor for my upcoming Field Experience and Capstone projects.

I am looking for a preceptor who meets the following criteria:
    • An RN with a Master's degree (or higher) and an active U.S. Texas license or multi-state license.
    • At least 2 years of experience in health informatics.
    • An employee at a host site that utilizes a Health Information System (HIS).
    What this will involve:
    • A project analyzing an existing HIS, identifying a gap, and proposing a system optimization to improve Triple Aim objectives.
    • 140 hours (90 for Field Experience; 50 for Capstone).
    • I do not require traditional shadowing. We can communicate in person, via email, text, Zoom, etc. at times that work for both of us. I am very flexible with my time, so I can be available whenever you need me.
      Preceptor Commitment:
      • Orienting me to the setting and providing information, contacts, and resources to complete my field experience and capstone clinical practice experiences.
      • Facilitating experiences that immerse me in the nursing informatics role. For example, this includes identifying essential informatics stakeholders, their roles and responsibilities, change management practices, and leading innovative projects and teams.
      • You are not obligated to spend a certain number of clock hours with me.
      • This is not considered research and is not a research project. This project is experiential and does not require implementation. All of the deliverables I produce can be provided to the organization to implement if and when they wish.

I am a 26 year old former mental health and rehabilitation nurse who is transitioning into an advanced professional nursing role, and I am excited to learn from someone experienced in this field. If you or someone you know is interested in supporting a future nurse informaticist, please reach out to me via DM or at my email pdomin17@wgu.edu.

Thank you for your time and for all you do for the informatics community!

      Best regards,

      Pamela J. Dominguez, BSN, RN
