Greetings fellow ANIA Members who live in the state of Georgia!
Nursing Informaticists from Georgia have expressed interest in starting a GA Chapter of ANIA. A poll taken earlier this year shows that GA members' top two reasons they would like to join a chapter would be to network and to learn. My name is Mark Bassett; Tracee Tomlinson and I would like to form a Georgia Chapter of ANIA to meet those needs, and I'm writing to let you know that we will begin that process in January.
I'm proposing that the objectives be very simple for 2017 - to hold two educational and two organizational meetings. Meeting those objectives would enable us to get to know each other and learn more about everyone's educational needs. From there we can determine additional / future goals and objectives. Personally, I would like to develop a strategic educational framework to address key knowledge informaticists will need to best perform in their positions over the next 5 -10 years.
What you can do:
Enjoy the holidays and consider if next year you would like to be chapter member.
You will receive a message with further information on Chapter educational meetings early next year.
Consider if you would like to help run one of the events or be a chapter officer.
I'm advocating a modest approach initially that will enable us to get to know one another without creating big time commitments. If you are interested, let me know.
Consider Attending the Atlanta Health IT Summit on December 14th ans 15th.
The Summit addresses some key strategic topics such as security and data protection and interoperability - the kinds of topics that should become part of our strategic educational plan. The Health IT Summit is partnering with us, and GA ANIA members have been given a great opportunity to attend this meeting at virtually no cost (essentially free for providers and 50% discount for vendors). I will be at the meeting and would love to meet with any of you who can attend (my apologies for the late notice). I will forward the offer and its details in a separate email, and will send a reminder in about a week. Please email me if you decide to attend so we can connect at the meeting. (NOTE: If you sign up make sure you will be able to attend; if you do not cancel 24 hours prior to the meeting you will incur a charge).
Thank you for your time. Enjoy the holidays and I hope to see you soon!
Mark Bassett, RN, MAS
Acting President
