Members - we are evaluating th euse of an Academic EMR, eg. EHR Tutor, Docucare.  Have any of you had experience and/or currently using an Academic EHR?  Would like to connect for a discussion - virtual or real.  Thank you

We have an academic EHR we use.  It is a partnership between The University of Kansas Health System and the University of Kansas Medical Center.  It is actually a copy of our Epic production environment with patients designed for the needs of the courses, simulation and health system training.  We are working towards making it a fully interfaced environment to make our simulations as close to "real life" as possible.

Elizabeth, this is extremely interesting.  Do you know if there was a cost to the University for using the copy?  Or did they have to get permission from Epic?  I want to explore this option for my new role! :-)

It is a joint venture between the health system and the university.  The health system became a public authority (separated from the state) back in 1998 so we are truly separate but we primarily reside on the same campus so we often share a lot of resources.  The university and the health system co-fund the resource who is primarily responsible for managing the EHR.  I would be happy to set up some time to discuss this further and pull in Lauren who is the one primarily responsible for the copy of the EHR.

This would be a fabulous tool for all Universities. What are the steps to apply for this?
