Transfer of Care Gaps: EHR Capture of Perioperative Handoff Communications
  • Identify what patient care information, verbally exchanged during handoff between the OR and PACU nurses, is accurately captured in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Discuss how a handoff tool influences the accuracy of transitional care information exchange between the OR and PACU nurses.
  • Examine the effect of automating an interface nursing terminology, the PNDS, has on capturing handoff communications in the EHR.
