Please join us for our February speaker Dr. Travis Scott!

Bio:

Dr. Travis Scott grew up in rural eastern Oregon where his parents would say, he was usually “cruising for a bruising.” His precocious nature, and playful spirit often led him where he was welcomed and loved but not always invited. Since then, to learn how to be in the world and make an impact, Dr. Scott has traveled around the globe, attained three Bachelors, one Masters, and a Doctoral degree, competed in the Junior Olympics as a springboard diver, and at a World Championship in sprint canoeing.

Dr. Scott currently lives and works in Portland, OR with his accomplice and the love of his life, Annie from Montannie. Their three fur babies, Herbie Tibbetts Esquire III, Franky Lunchbox, and Mo, keep their laps warm, smiles on their faces, and their hearts full of love.

Dr. Scott started as a new graduate nurse in 2005 and has been on a mission to improve healthcare for our communities. His passion and desire for safe patient-driven healthcare has led Dr. Scott to integrate palliative care practices into an ICU, manage and develop a hospice team, build an education and onboarding program for a long-term acute care hospital, develop an Atrial Fibrillation Center of Excellence and act as the PPE chief during a global pandemic for an academic medical center, and to develop a Performance Excellence System for a flagship hospital in the third largest health system in the country. Dr. Scott currently works as a Quality Assurance Nurse Supervisor at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, OR.

Project intro:

To achieve his Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in Health Systems Administration and Leadership, Dr. Scott completed a quality improvement project on increasing bed availability in a tertiary care center. This project aimed to make beds available to patients when and where they needed care. Dr. Scott led an interprofessional team through a rigorous quality improvement process to streamline workflows, improve interprofessional communication, utilize technology to ease the way of caregivers, and to make care available to poor and vulnerable patients. Dr. Scott’s work was successful and he is delighted to share it with you all today.
