Duke Doing Good in the Neighborhood
On Saturday, April 25, the North Carolina Chapter of the American Nursing Informatics Association and Clinic 1A teamed up for three hours of volunteering at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina in Durham. We kicked off our morning by working an energetic assembly line, packing senior boxes. Once we wrapped up with those, we shifted gears to sorting sweet potatoes and filling up 10-pound bags. The Volunteer Coordinators kept everyone motivated with upbeat playlists, making the atmosphere lively and fun throughout the day.
It was truly a memorable and productive experience for all involved. During our time, we managed to sort 13,444 meals, pack 202 senior boxes, and fill 886 bags of sweet potatoes. The teamwork and positive energy made a real difference, and we walked away knowing we helped support our neighbors in need.
We plan to host another opportunity in the fall and hope you can join us!
